Robert E. Kirkman (“Bob” to most) was the long time Minister to Edenside Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Bob grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, and received his Bachelor’s degree from Butler University and Master of Divinity Degree from Christian Theological Seminary (CTS) in Indianapolis.  CTS conferred an Honorary Doctorate on Bob in 1967, and he later served on their Board of Trustees. After completing his Master’s degree, Bob, along with his wife Bonnie Hardin Kirkman, moved to Louisville to begin their ministry to Edenside.
Bob served Edenside Christian Church from 1952 through 1987, when he became the Director of the Downtown Louisville Campus of the Christian Church Homes in Kentucky until his retirement in 1993.  In his retirement, Bob continued to be active in interim ministries and was a very frequent guest preacher in churches throughout Louisville and southern Indiana.
Bob loved all aspects of ministry, including church administration, pastoral care, and preaching. But he especially loved writing and delivering sermons.  In the mid-1970’s, Edenside  added a recording system, and thus most of Bob’s sermons from that time through the late 1980’s were preserved.  Other sermons Bob gave during the interim ministry years in the 1990’s were also preserved.
Although Bob (Dad) passed away in 2016, we wanted to honor his ministry by sharing some of his sermons on this website. The sermons are listed by either title or topic. Bob was an insightful, well read, and well researched man, and that is reflected in his preaching. We hope you will enjoy and be moved by Bob’s thoughts and sermon delivery.
Thus, please enjoy and be inspired by Bob’s preaching.   If you wish to use or share any part  of one of Bob’s sermons in any other format/medium, please give Bob and this website attribution.

Love,

Bonnie, Paul, and David Kirkman.
